Maple Holistics - Sage Shampoo / Silk18 Conditioner Review

Maple Holistics is company that sells Organic and Natural beauty products. You can buy different types of beauty products such as shampoos, conditioner, skincare, and other bath essentials off of their website www.mapleholistics.com or on Amazon. I also wanted to mention that Maple Holistics is running a promotion where if you leave a honest review on Amazon about your experience using a product then they will send you a free product of your choice. If you are interested in this please check out their website here. A few weeks ago Rachel from Maple Holistics reached out to me and asked if I'd like to try a few of their products so that I can review them you! I just want to clairify that I was sent these products for review, all opinions and thoughts are my own honest review, and I am not being paid/sponsered to do this blog post or video.

When browsing the site to choose which products I wanted to try I was immediately drawn to the shampoo with the purple bottle, which happens to be the Sage 'Color Safe Dandruff Shampoo for Color Treated Hair'. Now I have suffered with mild dandruff on and off for years, ever since I started dying my hair. After choosing the shampoo I knew I wanted a conditioner to go with it, but I honestly didn't know which conditioner would be the most complimentary to the shampoo. Many of the shampoos on the site actually have a Shampoo/Conditioner pair, but the Sage shampoo does not. So I actually asked Rachel what she would recommend and she suggested that I try the Silk18 'Natural Hair Conditioner with Shea Butter & Jojoba Oil'.

When I received the products in the mail, I instantly noticed how nicely packaged they were. Each of the bottles had a seal on it so that it would not leak during the shipping process which I definitely appreciated (how many of you have had things leak in the mail!?). There was also bubble wrapping around the products so they wouldn't be knocked around during shipping. The box also contained some cards, which contained all of the details about the products and also some tips and tricks on how to best use the products so they really work as they are intended. The bottles were also filled almost to the very top so I was very happy about that.

One of the first things I noticed was how small the bottles actually are. Maple Holistics sells two sizes, 8oz and 16oz bottles for their shampoos and conditioners. For the Sage Shampoo it costs $17.95 for the 8oz bottle and $32.31 for the 16oz bottle, and for the Silk18 conditioner it costs $12.97 for the 8oz bottle and $23.35 for the 16oz bottle. I have very long hair (near to my waist) and my first thought was this is going to last me 4 washes maximum, but boy was I wrong! When reading the little cards that came with the product and the directions on the bottle, I noticed that they recommend only using a quarter sized amount of product. Again I have extremely long hair so I didn't think this was doable at all, but really you only need a quarter sized amount (for my long hair I use just a smidge over, but you can see how much I actually use in the pictures below). Now normally to shampoo my whole head I put shampoo all over my palm, which is much more than a quarter sized amount, so these smaller bottles will actually last me a long time!

So the first thing I want to talk about is the Sage 'Color Safe Dandruff Shampoo'. The very first thing you will notice about this product is the smell... The smell is very similar to Vicks Vaporub and it is extremely strong. If you are sensitive to smells then this may not be the product for you. Although the scent is very strong it does not linger after the shower, and I cannot smell it on my hair when it has dried. The bottle directions say to put a quarter sized amount in your hands, and really massage it into your scalp for 2-3 minutes. Once this is done you should rinse and repeat the same steps again. Now the first week or 2 I did wash my hair twice to really get rid of the dandruff, but once I noticed the dandruff disappeared I switched to only shampooing once per shower, which doesn't seem to have made a difference. This shampoo lathers up so well, you really only need a quarter sized amount even if you have long hair so I would recommend using a small amount and using more slowly as you need it.

After my first shampooing using this product I instantly noticed when my hair was dry that I had a very small amount of dandruff left (probably less than 5%) and that was only after the first washing! By the second washing (remember I shampoo'd twice each shower) it was completely gone and I could no longer see any dandruff on my hair! I was amazed as I had tried Head & Shoulders in the past which actually made my dandruff worse so I was very surprised and glad.

Once you have rinsed out the Sage shampoo I switch to the Silk18 Natural Hair Conditioner with Shea Butter & Jojoba Oil. Now with this product I had a complete different reaction when opening the product, it smells divine! The smell is has a very strong vanilla scent which does last in your hair. Once my hair has dried I can still smell it in my hair and I adore this scent. I will apply the conditioner to my hair and really rub it in making sure it coats all the hair from my ears down. I try to keep conditioner off my scalp just because I find it makes my hair go greasier faster. When you rub this conditioner into your hair you can really feel all the tangles disappearing. I have very tangly hair and it usually takes me quite a while to brush out, but using this conditioner makes it so easy.

I feel like out of the two products the Sage Shampoo gave me the most impact and I could really see the results quick and fast and the product just shined over the conditioner. I have tried other Anti Dandruff shampoos in the past and they have made my scalp more itchy and give me more dandruff than I had started with, so I was very pleased with having results in only 1 shampooing using the Sage Shampoo. The Silk18 conditioner is also very good and does leave my hair very soft, detangled and smelling amazing, but being completely honest I feel its very comparable to other shampoos (that are much cheaper) I have tried previously and doesn't stand out as much as the Sage Shampoo did for me, especially for the price.

Overall I think both of these products are fantastic and I am very grateful that Maple Holistics sent me these two products to try out. Rachael the representative from Maple Holistics
was very helpful in answering all of my questions and also helping me choose which products would be best for me. I think both of these products are great especially if you are looking for a natural and organic shampoo and conditioner. I haven't used up the whole bottle, but once my Sage Shampoo runs out I plan on purchasing another because of how great it performs and keeps away dandruff!

Have you guys tried any products from Maple Holistics? If you have please let me know in the comments below as I would love to hear more about different products and how you got on with them.
